Making Old Layouts Functional in Kitchen Remodeling Schaumburg
Sometimes considered the downtown of the Northwest Suburbs, Schaumburg also has considerable residential areas with a population of just over 74,000. The heyday of home construction in this suburb occurred roughly between the late 1960s through the 1980s. Here you’ll find a mix of single-family structures ranging in size from starter homes to large higher-end residences of 3,000 feet and more, along with townhouses and coach homes of various ages and sizes.
Many of these homes, particularly those in the small- to medium-sized range, have kitchens and layouts that are outdated and impractical for today’s lifestyle. The 1970s-era split level home of Scott and Diane G. was typical. The couple needed more room in their kitchen while an adjacent formal dining space went largely unused. We remedied that problem by removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room in a renovation that took about six weeks to complete.
Creating an Open Kitchen and Layout
The result is an open concept kitchen that features an island, breakfast bar and a family and dining area that opens onto to the home’s backyard patio. We relocated the kitchen to the end of the first floor where the dining room was previously located. Spacious bright white cabinets, granite counter tops, a contemporary oven range hood along with pendant and recess lighting completed the look.
Scott and Diane G. were thrilled with the result, as evidence by Diane’s satisfaction with our work.
“Working with Chris of Rosseland Remodeling was a great experience. I expected that renovating two-thirds of our first floor and an upstairs bathroom would produce issues along the way, but we are thrilled to say everything went so smoothly, “ she said. ‘The workmanship by all of his subcontractors was excellent. Chris was always available to answer questions and is truly a caring person. The space was kept clean through all phases of the project. Our overall experience was so positive. We highly recommend working with Chris. You won’t be disappointed”
